Coco Chanel's Apartment, 31 Rue Cambon

A peek into the apartment of the great Coco Chanel. The lady behind the little black dress unsurprisingly had serious style on every level. There was no kitchen or bedroom in this apartment. Instead Chanel would retire to the Ritz in the evenings.

Her living room, complete with suede upholstered sofa - a revolution in those times.

Beautiful Mirrors

More Chinese lacquered screens...

The famous mirrored spiral staircase designed by Chanel herself, so that she could see what was happening on every level of her apartment!

Looking into the dining room, with more ornate pieces and gilt framed mirrors.

The legacy lives on!

The Savoy

I had not managed to visit The Savoy since the completion of a recent mega million pound refurb. Finally, on Friday, after pre-booking back in November, I went for afternoon tea. This was an indulgent and superb birthday present from my husband's parents! The Beaufort Bar was indeed my favourite area. All art deco and dramatic gold and black. Look out for all the gold leaf...shall be going there again!

Spectacular flooring.

The Thames Foyer - Afternoon Tea is served here

Nice plates (the cakes were yummy too!)

I had to capture the carpet...

The gold leaf might be eye catching but just look at the carpet!....I seem to be quite taken by flooring at the moment.
